CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police detectives are investigating fraud allegations made by a department store inside SouthPark Mall.

Officers were called to Macy’s inside the mall Sunday and were told that an employee had stolen nearly 50 pieces of jewelry over the course of the year.

According to a police report, Macy’s alleged that one of their employees had stolen 46 pieces of jewelry — ranging from necklaces, gem stones, diamond rings and earrings — while working and then pawned them for cash.
