Businesses pledge $3 million to make Guilford Co. a ‘Say Yes’ community

GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — Two local corporations announced today a total pledge of $3 million toward efforts to make Guilford County a Say Yes to Education community.

That designation would mean, among other things, college scholarships for Guilford County Schools graduates.

VF Corporation pledged $2 million, and United Guaranty Corporation pledged $1 million, according to a news release from the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro.

Those leading the effort to make Guilford County a Say Yes community have set an initial fundraising goal of $28 million. That effort got its first big boost last month with a $5 million pledge from the Phillips Foundation.
