WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- An autopsy report from the North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office revealed Eduardo Mendez Hernandez died of environmental hypothermia.

Hernandez, 44, was found dead in a heavily wooded area Monday after he went missing about two weeks ago.

The search team found him in a creek about a half mile from his apartment located at 100 Stagecoach Road.

Hernandez was first reported missing Feb. 17. At that time police said they believed he was not wearing the right clothing for the cold weather and may have been intoxicated when he left his apartment.
