PLACENTIA, Calif. — A female teacher was found hanging Monday inside a classroom in California.

The teacher was found at El Dorado High School, according to KTLA.

The classroom door was locked when students arrived for their first-period class. After another teacher came to let them in, the students found their teacher hanging inside the classroom.

Police and firefighters were called to the campus around 8:40 a.m.

Attempts were made to revive the teacher but were unsuccessful. The teacher was declared dead at the scene.

An initial investigation indicates the teacher killed herself.

Students were released early because of the incident.
