WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A busy intersection in downtown Winston-Salem is closed after a water main broke overnight.

The water main rupture, at the intersection of Second Street and North Main Street, was reported around 11:30 Sunday night.

Several lanes of the intersection and the exit from Business 40 onto Main Street are closed.

A detour is in place but the closure will likely slow traffic in the area Monday morning.

Crews will be working to repair the road throughout the morning.
