Former NBA standout Anthony Mason dies at 48

Former NBA All-Star forward Anthony Mason has died at 48, according to ESPN.com.

The 13-year NBA veteran had been diagnosed with congestive heart failure earlier this month, according to a Knicks spokesperson.

In Mason’s 13-year career, he played with the New Jersey Nets, Denver Nuggets, New York Knicks, Charlotte Hornets, Milwaukee Bucks and Miami Heat. He averaged 10.8 points and 8.3 rebounds in his NBA career.

Mason earned the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award in 1995 and then led the NBA in minutes played in the subsequent two seasons.
