LEWISVILLE, N.C. — Authorities are on the scene of a fatal house fire in Lewisville after a report came in that a person and a dog were dead, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.

Officials said the fire was reported at 995 Ridings Road near the corner of Kinney and Ridings roads and was reported at about 8 a.m.

Criminal investigators were on the scene shortly afterward, although it was not clear whether authorities believe any foul play was involved, according to the Journal.

Deputies were in a joint investigation with the county fire marshal’s office, according to Brad Stanley, the chief deputy of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

Firefighters from Lewisville “responded to a residential structure fire, and upon extinguishment found a deceased person,” Stanley said. He said deputies were in the process of obtaining a search warrant to continue their investigation.
