High Point man injured in I-73 accident in Guilford County

GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — A High Point man was injured in a Tuesday evening accident on Interstate 73 in Guilford County.

The accident happened near mile marker 99 at about 5:45 p.m.

Witnesses told Highway Patrol that Robert William Willis, 43, of High Point, was either stopped or traveling at a low rate of speed southbound in the far right lane of I-73.

Michael Edward Robertson, 33, of Randleman, was traveling southbound in the same lane and failed to reduce speed, colliding with the rear of Willis’ vehicle.

Willis was transported to Moses Cone Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Robertson was not injured.

Highway Patrol said both men were determined to contribute to the accident and both will be cited.

The accident prompted lane closures on southbound I-73 for approximately 30 to 45 minutes.
