DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — Two men in Davidson County led police on a brief chase on Wednesday before crashing when deputies tried to pull the vehicle over.

Deputies said they tried to stop Tyree Darnell Jones, 19, because his car matched the description of a vehicle involved in a theft at a Walmart in Lexington.

Jones stopped the vehicle on Fairview Drive, but he and a passenger fled when deputies approached the car.

He pulled behind a house at 222 10th Avenue Extension and lost control of the vehicle, crashing into a shed.

The two men fled on foot after the crash.

Both men were taken into custody and charged with misdemeanor larceny and property damage. The name and photo of the second man was not released.

Jones was also charged with felony speeding to elude arrest and driving with a revoked license.

All of the stolen property was recovered.
