WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The former Wright’s Backyard Birding Center properties on Country Club Road could become the site of new office and retail space, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.

The properties are at 3901 and 3831 Country Club Road. The current Wright’s Backyard Birding Center still operates across the street at 3906 Country Club Road.

The City-County Planning board approved on Thursday a petition by Robert E. Pike and developer White Oak Vista LLC to have the birding center’s former site rezoned from limited business, limited business — special use for offices and retail, and residential to just limited business — special use. The Winston-Salem City Council will hear the case in March.

Pike is the managing member of White Oak Vista and the president and chief investment officer for Stratford Advisors Inc., which is next door to the proposed site. Limited business zoning allows for various uses, including arts and craft studio, food or drug store, restaurant, banking and financial series and offices.
