Piedmont man arrested with more than 350 pounds of marijuana

HAMPSHIRE, Ill. — Authorities said a North Carolina man was arrested after being caught with more than 350 pounds of marijuana valued at over $3 million.

NBC Chicago reported that Levi Blalock, 36, of Moncure, N.C., was arrested after the marijuana was found in his truck at a hotel in Illinois.

The suspect has been charged with cannabis trafficking, unlawful possession of cannabis and unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver. He was jailed in Illinois under a $1 million bond.

Officials said that Kane County Sheriff’s authorities were patrolling the parking lot of a hotel in Hampshire, Ill. Thursday night when they came across the suspect. He allegedly gave conflicting stories about why he was there.

A K9 team was called and reportedly found the marijuana in 15 large garbage bags containing nearly 300 smaller bags with cannabis. Deputies said there was 354 pounds of marijuana total.
