One town in North Carolina ranks high on a recent list of America’s most romantic towns.
Travel and Leisure magazine recently released the list and named Beaufort in Carteret County as the No. 2 choice.
The magazine wrote the following about the Inner Banks town:
“As one of the oldest towns in North Carolina—it dates back to 1709—this Inner Banks village has a boardwalk, stately old homes that have turned into B&Bs (such as the Ann Street Inn, built in 1832), and an A-list pirate past (Blackbeard hung out here).”
St. Simons, Ga. took the No. 1 spot, while Amelia Island, Fla. was ranked No. 3, followed by Sag Harbor, New York and San Luis Obispo, Calif.
The magazine looked at categories including romantic hotels, brunch spots, bakeries, farmers’ markets, wine scenes, and idyllic, picnic-friendly parks and other factors.
