Mother, son found dead in NC house fire were murdered

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — A mother and her teenage son were killed before their Mount Holly home was set on fire, according to Gaston County Police.

Now, the woman’s boyfriend, Peter Rivers, is being called a person of interest in the case.

Rivers was arrested in Georgia one day after the bodies of 38-year-old Bridgette Berry and 17-year-old T.J. Berry were found their home on Ridgemount Court Monday morning.

Rivers was arrested in Camden County on Tuesday on dangerous drug charges. Camden County is about five hours away from Mount Holly, according to court records.
