Randolph County woman printed counterfeit money in hotel room

THOMASVILLE, N.C. — A woman from Sophia is in jail for printing counterfeit money and trying to use it in Thomasville.

A clerk at the Davidson Lodge, located at 5 Laura Lane, told police April Dawn Bowman, 30, paid with counterfeit $20 bills the first week of February.

The clerk led detectives to Bowman’s room where they found counterfeit $20 bills, a printer, ink, and a paper trimmer.

Bowman was arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged with felony possession of five or more counterfeit instruments with intent to injure and
defraud, and felony possession of a counterfeit instrument.

She is being held in the Davidson County Jail under a $50,000 secured bond. Bowman’s court date is set for Feb. 25.
