Power restored to thousands in Greensboro after single-vehicle crash caused outage

Update 8:13 a.m. -- Duke Energy has restored power to the area around Friendly Center after a single-vehicle crash  caused an outage early Wednesday morning.

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Duke Energy is working to restore power to parts of Greensboro after a single vehicle crash knocked down a power pole early Wednesday morning.

The crash happened in a northbound lane of Westover Terrace at Benjamin Parkway.

Duke Energy's website shows approximately 1,400 homes and businesses in the area around Friendly Center have lost power.

Power should be restored at about 8:30 a.m., according to Duke Energy.

Motorists are encouraged to take alternate routes and exercise caution in the area during this time.
