KERNERSVILLE, N.C. — A local church is one of 45 nationwide that’s been chosen to host “Night to Shine,” a special-needs prom underwritten by former NFL player Tim Tebow’s charitable foundation.

On Friday night, First Christian Church Ministries of Kernersville is expecting 125 people whose disabilities range from physical to mental.

And for one guest, the prom can’t come soon enough.

“He’s asked every day, ‘Is the prom today?’ ” the Rev. Tim Bussey said.

The church applied to Tebow’s foundation and received about $8,000 — along with 20 pages of details on how to host the event.
