One person injured after SUV collides with train

GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — One person was taken to the hospital Wednesday after an SUV collided with a train.

The incident happened about 10:s0 a.m. at a railroad crossing at Ledbetter Road near N.C. 62 in the Climax area of Guilford County. The intersection is about a mile west of U.S. 421.

The driver of the SUV, who was injured, was alone in the vehicle. The extent of injuries was not available.

Norfolk Southern and the Highway Patrol are investigating.

The crossing at that site does not have automatic signals, the News & Record reported. Officials did not know how fast the train was traveling, but said the track speed limit at the site is 25 mph. No one aboard the train was injured.
