AUBURN, Penn. -- A family in Pennsylvania was trying to install new insulation in their home when they found some unexpected "insulation" was already lurking behind the walls.
The Bretzius family found dozens of dead animal carcasses, half-used spices and other items in the walls.
All of the dead animals were wrapped in newspapers from the 1930s and 40s.
When the family bought the home back in 2012, a home inspector didn't find anything wrong. Now the family is stuck.
Their insurance doesn't cover the repairs so the Bretzius family has spent about $20,000 trying to fix the problem.
After finding all the dead animals the family sent the artifacts to an expert to find out why someone would leave dead animals in the walls of the home.
The expert said the former homeowner was likely practicing Dutch magic and used this process to heal ailments.
The family still isn't sure if all of the dead animals have been removed from the walls of their home.
