MARIETTA, Ga. -- Earlier this month a couple in Georgia was murdered after responding to an ad on Craigslist. A college junior is the latest victim after he responded to an advertisement for an iPhone 6.

Friends of Ames Jones, 21, are asking why anyone would rob, shoot and kill the college athlete.

Jones was a chemistry major at Clark Atlanta University.

His friend, Brenard Williams, said the last text the two exchanged was about playing football.

In a university-wide email to students, officials said, "This is a devastating loss for the Clark Atlanta University family. Mr. Jones was a serious scholar and a kind, engaging spirit whose work and comportment spoke well of the university's core values and those long ago instilled in him by those contributing to his upbringing."

Two 18 and 19 year olds, along with a 21-year-old were charged with felony murder, armed robbery and aggravated assault.
