THOMASVILLE, N.C. -- On this Recipe Wednesday we celebrate Valentine’s Day with five fabulous chocolate recipes. These dishes are super easy and quite decadent. Southern Sisters in Thomasville taught Shannon Smith how to make them.
Easy Chocolate Fudge
- 2 packages of your favorite chocolate chips
- 2 cans of sweetened condensed milk
- 2 tsp vanilla
- Garnishes (i.e. nuts, caramel, toffee chips, peanut butter chips, etc.)
Melt chocolate and milk in microwave stirring every 30 seconds until smooth. Pour half of the mixture into a 9”square pan lined with foil. Place garnishes in lines on top of the chocolate. Pour other half of chocolate mixture on top. Refrigerate for 2 hours and cut into squares.
- 1 package of semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 1/4 cup heavy cream
Place chocolate chips in bowl. heat heavy cream in microwave in glass bowl until cream is bubbling (approx 90 sec). Pour over chips and whisk until smooth. Drizzle over cakes or chill to create a spreadable chocolate ganache. Optional - Take 1/2 cup ganache and 1 tbsp peanut butter, stir until combined, and chill to make a “Nutella” type spread.
Chocolate Play Doh
- 1 package Milk Chocolate Chips
- 5 TBS Light Corn Syrup
Heat chocolate in glass bowl in microwave stirring every 30 seconds until melted. Add corn syrup and stir until fully incorporated. Mixture should become thick immediately into a dough consistency. Take dough, and place in ziploc bag. Chill in refrigerator for 2 hours.
Chocolate Covered Strawberries
- Fresh Strawberries
- 1 package chocolate chips
- 1 tbsp shortening
- 1 glass filled with rice
Place chocolate in the microwave in a glass bowl until melted, stirring every 30 seconds. add shortening and stir until smooth. Place strawberries on skewers and dip into chocolate. Stick the skewers upside down into the rice glass with the strawberry on top, and chill in refrigerator until chocolate is firm.
- 1 oz Godiva Chocolate Liqueur
- 1 oz Godiva White Chocolate Liqueur
- 1 oz Bailey’s Irish Cream
- 1 oz Creme de cacao
- 1 oz vodka
- 2 oz half and half
Pour all ingredients into an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Shake and pour into Ganache drizzled martini glass.
