EDEN, N.C. — One of the worst environmental disasters in North Carolina history happened one year ago.

We're talking about the tens of thousands of pounds of toxic coal ash that leaked into the Dan River near Eden.

The storage facility belonged to Duke Energy. And since then the company has put a lot of work into making changes.

And as FOX8’s Bob Buckley also shows us -- the environment has begun to heal itself.
