Pedestrian fatally hit by truck in Winston-Salem

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A pedestrian has died after being hit by a truck Friday night in Winston-Salem, according to police.

Donald Keith Jarrett, 53, of Winston-Salem, died after being hit in the 1500 block of New Walkertown Road shortly after 9 p.m., according to police.

Police said Jarrett was standing in the left travel lane of west bound New Walkertown Road at the time of the crash.

He died at the scene due to injuries sustained from the collision, according to police. Police said he was hit by a 1998 Dodge Ram driven by a 35-year-old Pfafftown man.

Police have not made any arrests in the case. The investigation is ongoing.

This is the third traffic fatality this year in Winston-Salem, compared to one at the same time last year, according to police.
