HIGHLANDS, N.C. — A hotel in North Carolina has been named the fifth-best hotel in the entire country. recently released its Travelers’ Choice Awards, honoring the best hotels throughout the U.S. and around the world from bargain to luxury.

The Old Edwards Inn and Spa in Highlands, N.C. ranked at No. 5. The Langham in Chicago took the No. 1 spot, followed by French Quarter Inn in Charleston, S.C.; Bardessono in Yountville, Calif. and The Grand Del Mar in San Diego.

“Old Edwards Inn and Spa sits atop the scenic southwest plateau of North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains, offering abundant opportunities for relaxation, recreation and adventure,” according to the hotel’s website. “The European style resort cascades along several blocks filled with amenities, music, dining venues and individually appointed guestrooms, suites and cottages.”

The award winners were determined based on millions of reviews and opinions collected in a single year from TripAdvisor travelers worldwide.
