HOPE MILLS, N.C. — A North Carolina Walmart is accused of hanging up signs saying “truck drivers you are not welcome,” but the store says they didn’t put them up.

Walmart corporate officials told WHNS that management did not place the signs around a store in Hope Mills.

Photos of the signs have recently been spreading on social media. Many people online have been criticizing Walmart because of the signs.

A company spokesperson said a Walmart associate at the store saw the signs on Tuesday. They have since been removed.

“We are not sure how these signs were hung up in our store but as soon as they were noticed by an associate our management immediately took them down,” said Brian Nick Walmart’s Director of National Media Relations.
