WINSTON-SALEM, N.C -- Every day hundreds of joggers run near Runnymeade Road and Springdale Avenue.

An area where early Friday morning, just before 7 a.m., police say one jogger was sexually assaulted by a man hiding behind bushes.

The suspect wasn't wearing anything below the waist.

"I'm appalled," said jogger James Glick. "I run out here all the time. I live not far away. I have two young daughters."

Police say the suspect grabbed the woman from behind and tackled her to the ground.

The victim fought back and luckily got away.

Police are now looking for the suspect.

"It scares me half to death every time I hear something like this," Glick said.

"My kid actually goes to school right up the hill here," said jogger Clifford MacDonald.

"To know that there are people out there that would do something like that especially close to where your child goes to school is pretty upsetting," he said.

So upsetting some joggers now plan on making some adjustments to their routes.

"My wife, when I'm out with my kids, I may rethink about the hours and run with my wife when she comes," Glick said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Winston-Salem Crime Stoppers at 336-727-2800.
