GREENSBORO, N.C. — It may be one of the last steps before construction of a downtown Greensboro college campus.

Tonight the Greensboro City Council voted 8-1 to select a two-acre site at the corner Lee and Arlington streets as the location for the new Union Square Campus.

The campus would be shared by UNCG, NC A&T, GTCC and Cone Health to train advanced nursing and health care professions students.

Construction is expected to begin in the next few months.

Council chose this location rather than the corner of Elm and Lee streets, preferring to keep that land available for future mixed use projects.
