Child falls from moving vehicle in Burlington

BURLINGTON, N.C. – A 2-year-old boy fell from a moving vehicle on Alamance Road Friday afternoon, according to the Burlington Police Department.

Police said that Samantha Yankle, 20, was driving southbound on Alamance Road and was making a left hand turn onto Highway 85.

Authorities said  Luke Yankle, her son, was unsecured in the vehicle’s right-rear passenger seat and fell out of the vehicle into a traffic lane.

Police said that a witness was able to stop their vehicle and block the roadway to protect the child.

Luke Yankle was transported to UNC-Chapel Hill Hospital and is in stable condition, said police.

Police said that Samantha Yankle was charged with transporting a passenger less than 16 years of age without having the passenger in a weight appropriate child passenger restraint system.
