Former NC officer accused of breaking into police department, stealing $5.50

Alan Wayne Bridges, 30, of China Grove

SPENCER, N.C. — A former North Carolina police officer is accused of breaking into a police department and stealing $5.50.

The Salisbury Post reported that Alan Wayne Bridges, 30, of China Grove, was charged Thursday with breaking into the East Spencer Police Department.

The alleged incident happened Nov. 29. He is accused of breaking in and stealing $5.50 in cash.

Bridges is a former patrol officer with the East Spencer Police Department. He was employed with the department at the time of the crime.

Authorities have released little other information on the case, citing an ongoing investigation.
