Update: Detour removed after water main break in Burlington, 1 lane open

Update 1:29 p.m. — The detour on Maple Avenue has been removed.

One lane is now open to north and south bound vehicles. Water has been restored to the area.

Crews anticipate all lanes will reopen before the 5 p.m. rush hour.

BURLINGTON, N.C. — A lane is temporarily closed on Maple Avenue as crews work to fix a water main break.

The lane closure is between Chapel Hill Road and Plantation Drive.

Southbound traffic on Maple Avenue will be detoured to Chapel Hill Road, Tucker Street and then Plantation Drive.

One lane of northbound Maple Avenue is still open to traffic.

Businesses near the water main break do not have water and many are temporarily closed.
