High Point police search for answers after high-powered weapons found in home

HIGH POINT, N.C. — Police have been left with a lot of questions since finding a deceased man in a home full of weapons Sunday morning.

Capt. Tim Ellenberger said police were called to do a welfare check after a neighbor who usually texts with the man hadn’t heard from him in a few days.

When officers performed the welfare check they found the 62-year-old resident dead in his home on Westchester Drive, likely from natural causes.

They also found five hand grenades, two rockets, a mortar ball, a ground-burst simulator, time fuse and a detonator, police said.
