FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — A newlywed 95-year-old Virginia man has died just two weeks after his wife was taken away to Florida by family members.

Last summer, Eddie Harrison and 96-year-old Edith Hill celebrated their wedding. But, according to WUSA, their happy ever after soon turned into a nightmare.

One of Hill’s daughters said her mother had dementia and could not make her own decisions about her care. After a court hearing in December, Hill was taken away from Harrison.

The couple had been living with Hill’s other daughter, Rebecca Wright. Wright says her sister wanted to separate the couple, sell her mother’s house and get the money. Wright did not want to see her mother go.

“I want my wife back, I want her back home with me. She didn’t want to go and I didn’t want her to go,” Harrison told WUSA two weeks before he died.

Wright said Harrison was never himself again after his wife was removed from the home. She said he often looked out the window waiting for her to return home. She said he seemed to give up his will to live when it became obvious she would not return.

Harrison died on Tuesday after being hospitalized with the flu.
