GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. -- Troopers are expecting heavier traffic this week as people make their way home from visiting family for the holidays.

More traffic and wet roads are believed to be behind several wrecks that caused back-ups and delays on I-40 in Forsyth County and shut down all northbound lanes of I-85 in Guilford County Monday evening.

Troopers say an accident forced them to shut down northbound I-85 near Alliance Church Road and one southbound lane for EMS.

"As long as I have music and can dance around a little bit and [the traffic isn't] stopped -- it's good," said Alli Shad, heading home to Chapel Hill after spending Christmas in Asheville. Her drive home was without delay but she witnessed backups in the westbound lanes.a
