Update: Man in serious condition after fall at Hanging Rock

Update–10:35 The man that fell while hiking at Hanging Rock is in serious condition at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

STOKES COUNTY, N.C. – A man hiking at Hanging Rock State Park was airlifted to the hospital after suffering a fall on Sunday.

The 19-year-old was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center after Stokes County 911 dispatchers were called shortly before 4 p.m., according to Hanging Rock Park Superintendent Robin Riddlebarger.

The official would not comment on the identity of the victim, how far he fell or the extent of his injuries. The victim reportedly was seen with other people.

Riddlebarger said this is the first time in two years someone has been airlifted because of a fall at Hanging Rock.
