GREENSBORO, N.C. -- No lounging around in pajamas the day after Christmas for many families in the Piedmont. Friendly Center seemed about as busy today as it did in the busy days leading up to Christmas.
"Shopping the after Christmas sales is a yearly tradition for us. My sisters and I head out first thing in the morning, shopping for stocking stuffers for next year," said Mitzie Jewson, an early bird shopper who got up at 4 a.m. to nab day-after bargains.
Many stores offered sales of 50 percent off this day. Culinary shop The Extra Ingredient, in business for 29 years, is well known for its After Christmas Sale. Shoppers were waiting in line for the store to open at 10am this morning.
"It's not that we have to rush around and buy gifts, it's more relaxing. See what we see, enjoy ourselves," said shopper Brooke Beam.
The busyness of the day didn't have the same hectic pace as shopping before the holidays. It seemed to be more about family time and just having fun. Brent Holmes and his kids dressed up with Santa hats and Christmas T-shirts for their after Christmas shopping.
"If they go shopping with me, they have to wear it, it's just the way it is," laughed Holmes.
