Small tornado touches ground in NC on Christmas Eve

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, N.C. — A small tornado touched ground in New Hanover County on Christmas Eve, causing some damage and injuries to one person.

WWAY-TV reported that the twister was registered as an EF-1, meaning winds were between 86–110 mph. This tornado was said to have had winds around 105 mph.

It was only on the ground for a couple minutes, according to the National Weather Service.

It took out a large shed, damaged a house and threw a storage unit. One person was injured by flying glass.
