Woman accused of choking granddaughter while holiday shopping at J.C. Penney

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A grandmother is accused of choking a child while holiday shopping.

According to KOAT, police arrested Diana Hendren on Sunday after an employee at J.C. Penny called 911. The worker said she heard a child screaming, “don’t choke me.”

Officers say Hendren told them she was angry with her granddaughter for dropping money.

Emergency crews took the girl to the hospital to be checked out.

Hendren is facing child abuse charges.
