Police across Carolinas mourn loss of NYPD officers
As hundreds gathered for a candlelight vigil in New York City honoring two officers who were killed Saturday, law enforcement across the Carolinas is joining them in mourning the loss, according to WSOC.
“That is terrible what happened, especially here at Christmas time,” said Margaret Mills, Monroe-Union County Fraternal Order of Police president.
Mills said local law enforcement knows what the NYPD is going through.
Last month, Union County Sgt. Jeffrey Greene was killed when a truck overturned on his cruiser. Although the circumstances were different, the loss remains immense.
