YADKIN COUNTY, N.C. – An explosion at 1617 Speer Bridge Rd. in Yadkin County sent two teenagers to the hospital Saturday night.

According to Asst. Chief Barry McLain, the two teens were in the yard when the explosion occurred in an outside barrel fire.

Chief McLain said that it is suspected that aerosols in the barrel caused the explosion, but that has not been determined at this time.

Both teens were transported to Baptist Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The Yadkin Co. Fire Marshal is conducting an investigation into the explosion.

The investigation is on-going.
