Single engine plane crashes in SC’s Congaree River; Boy Scouts help pilot

CALHOUN COUNTY, S.C. — A single-engine aircraft crashed into the Congaree River Saturday afternoon, WECT reported.

The accident was near the Carolina Eastman Facility.

The plane was totally submerged in the water.

The pilot was taken to the hospital and has been released.

A Boy Scout Troop on a paddling trip was able to help the pilot.

The FAA is investigating.
