STONEVILLE — A Virginia woman was airlifted to a hospital this morning after she wrecked her 2001 Ford Focus, Highway Patrol Trooper Mark Rakestraw said.

“Hopefully she’ll make it,” said Rakestraw, who did not release the woman’s name because her next of kin has not been notified.

The News & Record reported that the driver, who had no passengers, was northbound on U.S. 220 Business near Janet Road when the Focus ran off the road to the right for no apparent reason.

“She apparently overcorrected, crossed to the left side and crashed into a tree,” Rakestraw said.
