BOONE, N.C. — Boone police responded to a child abduction call at Michael’s on Saturday, WSOC reported.

While shopping inside Michael’s, a family realized their 5-year-old daughter was no longer standing with them, according to police. After searching for her, the family found her inside the store.

It was discovered that the child had been lured into the bathroom by a person later identified as William Francis Grubb, 19, of Boone.

Grubb left the store before police arrived but was quickly found nearby with his legal guardian. Police said the legal guardian drove Grubb to Michael’s and the legal guardian stayed in the car. Grubb was found in the parking lot of Michael’s with his legal guardian and was arrested.

He has been charged with one count of each of the following: felony abduction of a child, felony indecent liberties with a minor, felony kidnapping and felony indecent exposure.
