Winston-Salem high school senior critically injured in vehicle crash

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A high school senior is in critical condition after a vehicle accident in the intersection of Grandview Club and Rock Hill roads.

Julia Gaurantano, a 17-year-old Reagan High School senior, was injured when her 2004 Honda Civic travelling eastbound on Rock Hill Road collided with another vehicle travelling southbound on Grandview Club Road, police said.

The driver of the second vehicle, William Virgil Brewer Jr., 68, of Pfafftown, N.C., was taken to Forsyth Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. He was driving a 2004 Jeep Cherokee SUV.

Guarantano is being treated at Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital for critical injuries.

The cause of the collision is still being investigated.

The 3500 and 3600 blocks of Grandview Club Road were closed for approximately four hours due to the crash.
