NC man charged in fatal shooting of Good Samaritan
CONCORD, N.C. — Police have made an arrest in the murder of a Good Samaritan.
Last Wednesday, Andreas Alberto Martinez was shot and killed while he and his wife were on their way to the grocery store to buy Thanksgiving dinner ingredients.
Martinez and his wife were flagged down by a group of five men on Malvern Drive.
“Let’s see what they need,” Martinez said, his wife Maria Monje told WCNC.
The men were asking to use a cellphone but instead demanded money at gunpoint.
Monje said the men seemed unsatisfied with the amount of money she and her husband handed over and shot Martinez. Monje immediately drove her husband to the Concord Police Department but attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.
Concord police announced today they have charged Kevin Deshaun Dixon, 22, of Charlotte, with murder in connection with Martinez’s death. He was also charged with attempted armed robbery, discharge a firearm into occupied property and possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana.
