STANLY COUNTY, N.C. — A North Carolina father will face a judge next month after he was charged with shaking and beating his 3-month-old daughter.

WSOC-TV reported that Albemarle police arrested Dustin Lane Almond, 32, on Nov. 18 after they said the mother of his child noticed bruising on the baby and took her to the hospital.

Authorities said the medical staff confirmed the injuries were consistent with child abuse.Police also cited bruising on Rebecca Almond’s temple, face and chin and “signs of shaken baby syndrome in the left eye,” according to court documents.

Police said Almond and the baby’s mother had once been involved in a dating relationship and the alleged violence took place during a custody visit to Almond’s apartment.
