Mount Airy man accused of stealing tractor, leading deputies on chase

HILLSVILLE, Va. — A Mount Airy man is accused of stealing a tractor and leading deputies on a chase that ended with him being shot by a stun gun.

The Mount Airy News reported that 50-year-old Darrell Lee Huffman faces violations of grand larceny in the theft of the tractor, along with resisting arrest and other charges.

Deputies said they received a call Saturday afternoon in Carroll County, Va. that a tractor reported stolen was being driven down a road.

The suspect in the stolen tractor allegedly took deputies on a chase, damaging a fence and eventually getting stuck in a creek.

After wrecking the tractor, the suspect allegedly tried to run off. That’s when officers used a stun gun on him, according to the paper.

The suspect allegedly had a meth pipe in his pocket.

He was placed in the New River Regional Jail on various charges without bond.
