2 dead, 1 injured in crash in Kernersville

KERNERSVILLE, N.C. — Two people are dead and one injured after a crash late Saturday night in Kernersville, according to police.

Drake Dalton Brown, 17, and Matthew Barry Jones, 20, both of Kernersville, were pronounced dead at the scene, according to Winston-Salem police.

A third passenger, Austin Gray Renegar, 18, of Kernersville, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, police said.

Police said it happened around 11:30 p.m. Saturday in 1700 block of Union Cross Road in Kernersville.

Brown was driving a 1999 Ford Mustang with Jones and Renegar riding as passengers, according to police.

Police said the Mustang went off the road to the right and collided with several cars at a home at 1760 Union Cross Road.

The investigation is ongoing and specific details about the crash have not been released.
