PITT COUNTY, N.C. — A Pitt County man accused of shooting his wife in the stomach is now facing more attempted murder charges after investigators say the suspect also pointed a gun at his wife’s baby, according to WCTI.

Deputies say Harve Franklin Mabe Jr., 32, fired a shotgun into the stomach of his 23-year-old wife on Tuesday at the couple’s home near Greenville.

Mabe is charged with first degree attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and assault on a female.

After an investigation, authorities discovered Mabe pointed the gun at his wife’s infant son while threatening both of them.

It was reported that Mabe then called 911 and claimed his wife was the victim of a drive-by shooting.

Mabe has been additionally charged with two more counts of attempted murder, as well as one count of possession of a weapon of mass destruction, the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office announced.

Mabe’s wife suffered serious and permanent injuries.

Mabe is in jail under a $1,250,000 bond.
