NC elementary school placed on lockdown after student with toy gun reported
DURHAM, N.C. — A North Carolina elementary school was placed on lockdown after a report of a student with a gun – but it turned out to be a plastic toy gun.
WTVD reported that Merrick Moore Elementary School in Durham was briefly placed on lockdown on Friday morning.
Officials said it turned out to be a plastic toy that was taken from the child at the school on Cheek Road. No one was hurt and the lockdown was lifted. Classes returned to normal. Police are investigating.
