ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. — One person is dead following a fatal car wreck in Rockingham County Thursday morning.

Officials say the call came in around 6:35 a.m. in the area of 1206 High Rock Road.

The driver killed in the wreck was identified as 31-year-old Mitchell Busick, Jr. of Gibsonville.

He was the only one in the vehicle and no one else was involved in the wreck.

Troopers estimated the driver going 70 mph in a 55 mph zone. The car veered off the side of the road and hit the end of the bridge, troopers reported.

Troopers say deer or another animal could have possibly ran in front of the vehicle causing it to crash, but they are unable to prove it.
