MARYVILLE, Tenn. -- Colin Lambert is a handful. His parents have to lock up cabinets around the house to keep the 18-month-old from getting into tiny spaces.

On Tuesday, he found a small space filled with toys and the fire department had to come rescue him.

Colin’s grandmother was watching him when he got stuck in a claw toy machine at a laundromat.

“I got a text message, looked down and flicked it.  I didn’t hear the bang. With Colin you have to hear the bang or you don’t see him for another 10 seconds,” said Colin’s grandmother, Diane O’Neil. “All I could see was his feet. He had already crawled in. I grabbed his feet and he kicked my hand.  He got in, climbed up and over glass partition and sat down in the toys.”

Diane quickly called police and the boy's mother, who was asleep after a long day at work.

“She shows up at my house... wakes me up.  I called the fire department and they go into this long explanation.  I said all I want to know is my kid okay? She shows me the picture and my husband and I start laughing because we’re not surprised.  It was a matter of time he did something like this I figured.” said the boy's Mother.

Colin’s grandmother said firefighters let him keep one toy to take home.
